Hello Ed, welcome aboard.
That's a great knife.
Here's something you might find interesting if you haven't seen it before.

You might also want to try the KTO Forum Search bar for other Huber or Sheffield threads.
The Search button is in the Blue bar at the top of every page between Help and Admin.
The Google Search bar bellow it will search the web.

That is one beautiful knife and looks to be a Huber. Some of their knives were marked with a number, I honestly don't know how many did not have the Huber mark, or Sheffield Works.

They were using knives and not many survived because of this attribute. I have seen them used hard and held up well.  One man tells me that only 14 are known to have survived to this day.

Question: Is the sheath stitched on the spine?

I would dearly love to be able to examine that knife in person the Huber is very probably my most favorite knife of history and if you have read the thoughts on our form you know more about them that most folks.

I seem to remember that you sent me an  e mail about this knife, my computer ate a bunch of emails and I lost yours. I apologize for this, I did not mean to neglect your questions and most sincerely thank you for posting your photos and thoughts on the form so all can see it, she is indead a beauty!

This bowie has an interesting history and can be tracked back to the Civil War (initials engraved on sheath throat) and then to a cowboy in Wild West shows who handed it down to the man I purchased it from...I had a chance to examine this one side by side with a Sheffield Works bowie and they are clearly made by same person-Huber I would surmise...Ed
