Welcome to the forum Lord of Sipan. Walter, I'm so glad you joined us.

I went to your website thinking "Okay, what do we have here?" It turns out that I have seen some of your work (on a forum I believe). Your background in the arts has been an inspiration for the cutlery you make. I like the way you bring nature to steel. I particularly like your handle treatments with the wire wrap. Those are some huge knives with lots of engraving. NICE. Not the fleamarket stuff we see here.

I thought the intros to your websites were appropriate, considering your interest in history. I didn't get enough of the music though. The photos of Machu Picchu in your Flickr album are excellent. I did this Google search to learn more about your work. sharksperu.com "walter berrios" knifemaker  And, I went through the various sites that were in the results. Some I was not able to translate, but that is not a problem. The contact information is easily understood. All very interesting.

I really enjoyed the Flickr album for Lord of Sipan, family & friends. Everyone should check it out. Oops, I saw Walter smiling in one of the photos. He probably relaxes a little when he is creating works of art. One question: Do you use sharks teeth for any of your handles?

Very educational post Walter. I worked on an archelogical site for a couple of summers, Tinchera Cave Site. While we did not get back as early as your example, I was amazed at how simple the first tools of man at this site were made. I had to look pretty close to determine if it was a tool or just a broken rock. We did a lot of experimenting and found that the shape of the tools could not have happened without a plan.

Early tools are always fascinating, thank you for sharing. This is irrelevant, but I noticed that you have the exact same scar on your right thumb that I have on mine. I wonder if that is a common place to get a scar.
