I have only recently started collecting daggers and knives. I have come across this unusual Bowie knife.
I have tried to investigate its origins and age, but I am finding it difficult to do!

The blade has 'Thomas Bland Vol knife, Gen. Jacob Pat' written on it.

What I have discovered is that the maker, 'Thomas Bland', is in fact known as a gun maker.
The blade does have the traditional 1850/60s etching of 'Can dig gold from Quartz' & 'California Bowie knife'.

I am just enquiring if anyone has ever seen a similar knife before, or in fact any knife produced by Thomas Bland before. I would just like additional information on the age and location of production really.

Many thanks

I have not heard of the maker, will do some looking.
I sure would like to see a photo or two of the knife.
