I recently acquired a bone-handled knife and sheaf.  The knife blade says Original Bowie Knife; Solingen Germany; Sabre Monarch 452.  Can anyone tell me its history or value.  Radicat?  You seem to be the expert on these.

I would need a little more info, ie. blade length, full tang or hidden tang, condition? A pic or two would help. A bowie sized knife of this type ( 8 inch blade for example) in good used shape should be worth about 40 to 60 bucks. Larger ones are always worth more, nicer ones are always worth more. They are not all that rare but the big ones are popular. I've seen really nice ones in the 10 inch range go for as much as 125.00. Some smaller hunting type knives were marked this way as well, I suppose to help them sell. They aren't quite as popular but are still nice using knives for the most part.
