Right now Im thinking that I could take the die I removed up to a welding shop and have them make the type I need.
But Im not really sure what the thing should look like?Huh?

I also need to know what type of upper die to order?

I have a 50lb little giant power hammer.

The top die has always been the problem.
Its very, very pointed, almost like it was designed to cut steel.

I have now removed the die and wish to order a flat one.

What do I do now?

I reckon all your customers are "a little particular", Ed. That's the way it should be, and why people insist on having YOU make their knives!

A little better photo, the top one is the blade I over heated while hardening, the bottom one is the replacement blade, it is 5 1/4 inches long, came out just right, in good light you can see 5 transition zones, my photography is a little lacking at present, but will be getting better, I promise. The customer for this blade is a little particular so I am also working up another blade, just a little different so he will be able to choose.

IMHO, that is one of the best blades I've ever seen, Ed! Such perfection needs replication before destruction!

Good to see you here, Daniel, and Thank You Kindly. Smiley

Annie and I had a fabulous time at the Fall Test Session, and we are very much looking forward to the next gathering.

Is it me, or have we lost a hear or so worth of the Forum?

I kind of like looking back through the old threads, and I'm glad we have the recent pictures, but can someone explain?

I'm sorry, but I've forgotten who takes care of maintenance, or I'd ask the right person.

Been a while sense checking back in here! I'm really glad to see you testing Ed! That's a nice looking knife, to bad she was got to hot;)  Sometimes mess ups are just the perfect excuse to test! Great stuff. Fantastic group of guys behind you as well.

Thanks Tom, I just heated it a little too hot the last time and it shows all thee way through, should be fun testing.

Left to right, Tom Kirk, Joe Calton, Casey Perdue, me, Chris Amos, Jared Williams and Mark Rich.
These are the men who came to the last testing seminar. I got too excited and did not take pictures or record what happened, this year I plan on concentrating about my job!

Those of you who have something to share, be it some great new process or a failure bring it along and we can all learn from it.
